신문자료 활용이 초등학교 슬기로운 생활교과 학습에 미치는 효과

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

We need the effective method for the Intelligent Life education from the children to induce desirable changes and help the learners to get the adequate attitude in their life. From the view of the aspects of learners development, I think that it is desirable the teaching-learning method using specific materials relevant to learners experience rather than the instruction dependent on only textbook. So, Intelligent Life education using newspapers which are obtained easily by children and could give more various and vivid experience to children can increse the interest of children and provide new opportunities for problem solving to children.
Therefore, the goal of the study is to propose the desirable method for the Intelligent Life education by proving the much more effectiveness of the class through newspaper materials than simple class through only a textbook, after considering the significance of newspaper for the Intelligent Life education as the teaching-learning materials and applying it to the class.
For the purpose of this study, focusing on the one part of the Intelligent Life of first grade, the researcher compared and analyzes the academic achievement about knowledge, research-skills, habit-attitude on the Intelligent Life.
The research of Ive gotten from this experiment are as follows.
First, in the aspect of knowledge acquisition I got the result that the academic achievement of the experimental group that taught through newspaper material was higher than of that of the control group through a textbook. Namely, using newspaper materials is a more effective method for increasing academic achievement in terms of acquiring knowledge.
Second, in the aspect of research-skills connected with the Intelligent Life I got the result that the academic achievement of the experimental group was higher than of that of the control group. Namely using newspaper materials is a more effective method for increasing academic achievement in terms of research-skills areas.
Third, in the aspect of the habit-attitude I got the result that the academic achievement of the experimental group was higher than of that of the control group. Namely, using newspaper materials is a more effective method for increasing academic achievement in terms of habit-attitude areas on the Intelligent Life.
For that reason, teaching through newspaper materials that contain the various experience and many cases from real life could be most effective from the point of view that it helps the learners to get the desirable ability and attitude in their life.
In conclusion, the goal of the Intelligent Life education can be achieved providing that the significance of teaching materials should be recognized and the education researchers make constant efforts to develop various and effective teaching-learning materials.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 초등학교 저학년 통합교과 중의 하나인 ‘슬기로운 생활’과의 교육 목적을 효율적으로 달성하기 위해서 다양하고 적절한 교수-학습 자료의 활용이 필요하다고 보았다. 신문자료는 다양한 교육내용을 각 교과와 연계하여 통합적으로 전개해 나갈 수 있고, 아동들의 일상 생활과 밀접한 관계를 갖고 있어 유용할 것이라 생각하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 실험수업을 통해 신문 자료가 슬기로운 생활의 교수-학습 자료로서 효과적인지를 알아보았다.
본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 초등학교 1학년 슬기로운 생활의 한 단원을 설정하여 신문 자료를 활용한 슬기로운 생활 수업을 실시한 학습집단을 실험집단으로 하고 교과서 내에 있는 자료를 활용한 슬기로운 생활 수업을 받은 학습집단을 비교집단으로 하여 두 집단간의 지식, 탐구,기능, 습관,태도의 각 영역에서 학업의 성취도를 비교,분석하였다.
본 연구에서 얻은 결과를 요약하면 슬기로운 생활에 관련된 지식, 탐구,기능, 습관,태도의 각 영역에서 신문 자료를 활용한 슬기로운 생활 수업을 받은 학습집단과 교과서 내의 자료를 활용한 슬기로운 생활 수업을 받은 학습집단을 비교해 볼 때, 학습의 성취도에서 실험집단이 높았으며, 통계적으로도 유의한 차이를 보였다. 즉, 지식, 탐구,기능, 습관,태도의 각 영역에서 신문 자료를 활용한 슬기로운 생활 수업이 교과서 내의 자료를 활용한 슬기로운 생활 수업 보다 더 효과적이라고 말할 수 있다.
이와 같은 연구 결과를 종합적으로 살펴 볼 때, 슬기로운 생활 교수-학습 자료로서 신문 자료의 활용은 슬기로운 생활의 목표를 보다 잘 달성할 수 있다는 점에서 유용하다. 즉, 초등학교 슬기로운 생활 교육이 초등학교 저학년 학생들에게 우리 주위에서 일어나는 여러 가지 현상에 대하여 호기심과 관심을 가지고, 구체적인 활동과 경험을 통하여 자신과 사회 및 자연과의 관계를 이해할 수 있는 토대를 마련해 주어야 한다는 견지에서 볼 때, 실생활의 다양한 경험과 구체적 사례를 전해주고 있는 생동감있는 자료인 신문 자료의 활용은 슬기로운 생활 교육에서 긴요하다고 할 수 있다.
따라서 교과서 위주로 수업을 계획하고 실행하는 우리 교육현장의 현실을 비춰볼 때, 앞으로 효율적인 슬기로운 생활 수업을 위해서는 신문 자료에 대한 교사들의 적극적인 수용과 관심이 필요할 것이다. 더불어 슬기로운 생활 수업을 위한 여러 가지 다양하고 질 좋은 교수-학습 자료의 개발에 대한 교육연구가들의 창의적인 연구가 활발히 이루어져야 할 것으로 본다.
