Pupae of Delia were collected from fields of Allium species in Chonbuk Province as well as in others. Delia antiqua(Meigen) was reared in the laboratory after proper identification and both rearing and effect of various diets used in rearing to this insect was studied and the results are summarized as follows.
1. Rearing cages with pressed styrofoam supported by wood frames and covered with cloth screen and cotton proved to be very efficient and kept away from contaminations.
2. The most preferable diet for adult flies turned out to be the mixture of skimmed dry milk(10), sugar(10), and soya peptone(1) combined with brewer's yeast, dry yeast, and yeast extract.
3. The preoviposition period (8-14 days) and the longevity(2-95 days) of the adult varied depending on mixtures of diet
4. The amount of protein and amino acids did not affect the degrees of oviposition by the flies.
