This study attempted to explore how learners' critical thinking appears in Korean music history classes using ChatGPT, a generative AI. The study focused on a four-week Korean music history class with 13 Korean classical music students at a university located in Gyeonggi-do, and analyzed the 'error identification table', class observation record, and in-depth interview data prepared by learners using a qualitative case study method. As a result of the analysis, in the response of ChatGPT, types of errors such as factual errors, absence of feed and source and virtual literature presentation, descriptions that conclude that 'no record' as 'no exist', and simplification of complex historical contexts were repeated. In the process of reviewing these responses, learners showed a step-by-step thinking process of identifying errors, analyzing evidence through feed and literature, evaluating the validity of information, and then reconstructing the revised explanation. Verification with the feed was essential to learners' use of critical interpretation to analyze AI responses for rebuilding knowledge. Based on the results, classes expressing Generative AI can act as a transformative learning setting for learners’ critical thinking for analyzing their own critical thinking processes and use as a medium to communicate Korean music history.
