내쉬균형과 용의자의 딜레마에 대한 기호학적 분석: 기업경영전략 함의를 중심으로 = Semiotics Analysis of the Nash equilibrium and prisoner´s dilemma : Approach to the implications of corporate management strategy

This study analyzed the movie <A Beautiful Mind>, which deals with the biography of John Nash, who proposed the concepts of Nash equilibrium and the prisoner's dilemma in game theory, using Greimas' actant model and semiotic square model. The film's narrative structure consists of two episodes: the first is a kind of mating game situation that occurs in a bar that provides a clue to John Nash's 'balance theory', and the second is the protagonist's schizophrenia situation that runs through the entire film. and the will to overcome it. As a result of the analysis, the first episode showed well how the idea of Nash equilibrium was born, although the situation in the movie did not match well with the actual theoretical situation. And the second episode deals in detail with the main character's struggle with illness, unable to distinguish between reality and fantasy, and consists of overcoming schizophrenia with the main character's will along with the introduction of a helper according to Greimas' actant model. The narrative structure of the movie <A Beautiful Mind> derived from this study will provide implications for understanding the properties of Nash equilibrium in the future and applying the theory to the corporate management strategy.

본 연구는 게임이론에서 내쉬균형과 용의자의 딜레마의 개념을 제시한 존 내쉬의 일대기를 다룬 영화 <뷰티풀 마인드>를 그레마스의 행동자 모델과 기호사각형 모델을 활용하여 분석했다. 영화의 서사구조는 두 가지 에피소드로 구성되어 있는데, 첫째는 존 내쉬의 ‘균형이론’에 대한 실마리를 제공하는 술집에서 발생하는 일종의 짝짓기 게임의 상황이고, 둘째는 영화 전체를 관통하는 주인공의 정신분열증 상황과 이를 극복하려는 의지를 다루고 있다. 분석결과, 첫 번째 에피소드에서는 영화상의 상황과 실제 이론상의 상황이 잘 맞지는 않지만 내쉬균형의 아이디어가 어떻게 탄생했는지를 잘 보여주었다. 그리고 두 번째 에피소드는 현실과 환상을 구분하지 못하는 주인공의 투병생활을 자세히 다루고 있으며 그레마스의 행동자 모델에 따라 조력자의 도움과 함께 주인공의 의지로 정신분열증을 극복한다는 내용으로 구성되어 있었다. 본 연구에서 도출한 영화 <뷰티풀 마인드>의 서사구조는 향후 내쉬균형을 이해하고 그 이론을 기업경영전략에 응용할 경우에 바람직한 정책적 시사점을 줄 것이다.
