The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the causal relationship between youth's social environment
including Internet, and self-efficacy and social competence. Purposeful sampling method was used to sample
a total of 719 students from 2 elementary schools and 2 middle schools located in Kyunggi Province. To
verify the research questions set for this study, it carried out statistical tests: internal reliability (Cronbach
α), correlation analysis and path analysis with help of SPSS/PC Win (ver. 18.0) and AMOS program (18.0)
program. And it found the followings.
First, youth's self-efficacy is affected by relationship with friends, relationship with teachers, and internet
environment and social competence is directly affected by relationship with friends, internet environment.
Second, youth's relationship with friends, relationship with teachers, internet environment, self-efficacy, and
social competence affect each other both directly and indirectly and self-efficacy has mediating effect
among relationship with friends, relationship with teachers, internet environment, self-efficacy, and social
competence. Therefore, an individual's level of motivation for potential event can be an important variable
to determine the degree of belief in an individual's competence related to career.
