한국 전통음식의 음양오행적 특성에 관한 고찰

This research started with a purpose of studying characteristics of yin and yang and five elements in Korean traditional food. Korean food is considered as a profound food that contains universal natural view of the world named yin and yang and five elements. But in these days, Korean food is getting spotlights due to its nutrients and the fact that it is very healthy, not because of its characteristics.
So the researcher suggests that Korean food contains not only the nutritions but also the wisdom and beauty of their ancestors through yin and yang and five elements. And also this researcher planned to spread unique characteristics of Korean traditional food through ‘food storytelling’, referring to yin and yang and five elements.
In the first chapter of this thesis, need and purpose of this study are proposed. In the second chapter, theoretical considerations of Korean traditional food are proposed, and unique characteristics of Korean traditional food and its relationship with yin and yang and five elements are discussed in chapter three. In the final chapter, this study suggests different applications and methods of ‘food storytelling’ in order to spread Korean traditional food, referring to yin and yang and five elements.
Through this study, it was possible to realize the value of Korean food with new perspective. Our, Korean, ancestors symbolized food with five colors and five tastes and they thought that the food of each color and taste carried idealism and harmony of their lives. Korean traditional food contains unique features of the culture and the society system, and is a result of very creative work.
Through this study, it was found that through ‘food storytelling’ with features of yin and yang and five elements can be an excellent way of advertisement, and to make Korean food a part of globalization.
I hope that many researchers continue researching on this topic from this thesis. And I also hope that through more studies like this, more opportunities of spreading our unique culture, spirit, and food will be made.
