      The new generation tends to express himself or herself at the cyber-space by using the avatar in the online. They represent themselves with their own character and identity at the virtual space which they are afraid to express themselves in real world.
      Two dimensional based avatar has been used widely at the web and mobile phone. New technology concerning three dimensional based techniques is also being developed these days. There are many researches concerning avatar, however, studies are limited on the development and its practical applications.
      There are few studies to investigate the relationship between the avatar acceptance and user's characteristics. The theory of accepting avatar based on psychological theory tends to have self-esteem, leading new fashion, and value of consumption as well as tendency of innovation and amusement as a user accepting theory. Based on these theories, this study has focused on the relationship between user's acceptance about avatar and user's characteristics. The researchers classify the college student's characteristics into two types; psychological attribute theory and user's accepting theory.
      Respondents were randomly selected to take the university general educational class "Understanding of Cyber Culture and Its Utilization" at D university. Survey was conducted during the mid term test period.
      170 students were responded at the questionnaire. This study excludes 6 copies those who answered unfaithfully. SPSSWIN 10 was used. T-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression were tested.
      The results of the study showed that there is a statistical significance between user's leading mind towards the image of new technology and user's acceptance of avatar. Also, there is a statistical significance between user's value of expenditures and user's acceptance of avatar.
