딜타이의 범주 이해 = Understanding the Category of Wilhelm Dilthey

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study purposed to understand the role and position of the Category of Dilthey in his Human Science. So in order to approach to this subject, firstly this study deals with what is the real intention Dilthey tried in his Human Science. Dilthey attempts to unify the separation between theory and practice of life which had been spreaded in the thought of 19 Century. He thought that the main reason of the separation had been from Modern Natural Science which was started by I. Newton and finally, I. Kant completed the philosophical theory about Natural Science as the point of epistemological problem in Critique of Pure Reason(1781).
But Dilthey severely criticized the modern intellectual epistemology on experimental laws according to natural scientific model. The method of natural science loses the wholeness of life because it has broken away lived experiences in the state based upon the separation of subject and object.
Therefore, Dilthey attempted to recover the wholeness of life in his Human Science, which is comprehended by the whole function of thinking, feeling and will because the object of the Human Science is originally for the social and historical world which has had been creating in the practices of lives.
The philosophical point of view in his Human Science is that in order to understand social and historical life, if we only incline to the direction of theoretical scholarship, the fallacy in Natural Science and Idealism in which the whole lived life is excluded within will be occurred again and reversely if we also take a serious view of life itself, it is impossible to be formed as a scholarship because there is lack of a concrete methodology.
Accordingly, such a problem of life and theory is his philosophical main concern in the Human Science and in this direction, his category of life has so important position. This study tries to understand his category of life in the same direction that Dilthey intends the unification of life and theory in his Human Science.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 딜타이의 범주가 그의 정신과학에서 어떠한 역할과 위치를 갖는가를 이해함에 있다. 이 주제에 접근하기 위해서 먼저 딜타이가 정신과학에서 무엇을 실제로 의도하고 있음을 이해해야 한다. 그것은 바로 19세기 당대의 사상적 문제인 삶과 이론의 분리에 대한 통합이었다. 그는 그러한 분리의 문제가 뉴우톤의 자연과학에서 시작하여 칸트의 순수이성비판(1781)에 이르러 자연과학적 인식론의 철학적 이론이 정립됨으로서 일어난 것으로 보았다.
딜타이는 자연과학적 모델에 따른 근대의 주지주의적 인식론에 대단히 비판적이었다. 왜냐하면 자연과학적 방법은 주관과 객관의 분리에 근거한 상태에서 합법칙성을 발견하기때문에 삶의 전체성을 상실하였다. 그래서 그는 정신과학에서 사유하고, 느끼고, 의욕하는 삶의 전체성을 회복하려고 시도하였다. 이것은 정신과학의 대상이 삶의 실천들에서 일어나는 사회, 역사적 세계이기 때문이다. 그러나 그는 정신과학의 사회, 역사적 삶을 인식하는데 있어서 이론적인 방향에서 학문적 성격에만 치우치게 되면 삶의 전체성이 배제되고 오히려 자연과학과 관념론에서 저지른 오류를 다시 반복하게 되며 반대로 삶 자체만을 중시한다면 구체적인 방법론이 결여되어 학문으로서의 성립이 불가능함을 인식하였다. 따라서 이러한 삶과 이론의 문제가 딜타이의 주된 관심사이었고 그러한 방향에서 삶의 범주의 역할과 위치를 규명하는 것이 본 논문의 과제이다.
