접속표현의 유형론적 접근 - 한국어, 영어, 프랑스어, 독일어, 중국어를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

접속표현은 언어보편적인 현상이며 등위접속표현과 종속접속표현으로 나눌 수 있다. 등위접속은 영어의 ‘and, or, but’에 해당하는 연접, 이접, 역접의 세 가지 범주가 있다. 종속접속은 하나의 문장이 다른 문장 안에 들어가 문장 성분으로 역할을 하는 것을 말하며 명사절, 형용사절, 부사절로 구분할 수 있다. 접속표현은 언어에 따라 다양한 방법으로 나타난다. 등위접속의 경우 명사접속과 동사(문장) 접속으로 나눌 수 있는데, 이 두 가지 접속을 위해 같은 접속표지를 쓰는 언어도 있고 다른 접속표지를 쓴 언어도 있다. 영어는 전자에 속하고 한국어는 후자에 속한다. 영어를 비롯한 유럽 언어의 경우 ‘and, or, but’ 등의 등위접속사와 ‘when, while, because, if' 등의 종속접속사가 잘 발달해 있어 이들은 하나의 독립된 품사를 이룬다. 그러나 한국어의 경우 양상이 완전히 다르다. 명사 등위접속표지와 공동격(comitative) 부치사가 같은 표지로 나타나는 언어가 있는가 하면 이 두 가지가 별도의 표지로 발달한 언어가 있는데 전자를 ‘with-language’라 하고 후자를 ‘and- language’라고 부른다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Connective Expressions are language universals and have two ways; coordination and subordination. The words, 'and, or, but' belong to coordination. Subordinations lead subordinate clauses and they play roles as one of sentence elements. These are noun phrases, adjective phrases, and adverb phrases. In sentences, both subjects and objects are noun phrases. Relative clauses are adjective clauses. Adverbial phrases show time, reason and condition. In English, the coordinations include the words, 'and, or, but' and the subordinations include 'while, because, if.' However, Korean has different connective systems. The English word 'and' is used as '-wa' or '-ko.' in Korean. Furthermore, the English subordinate expressions are used as '-mye, -myenso, -seo' in Korean.
