Usually, for the fatigue life estimation of real pipe, the 3 or 4 point bending fatigue test is used. However, there is a disadvantage that the sufficiently long pipe is needed. Also, the general bending fatigue test for real pipe is good for stress ratio over 0 conditions, however, but the complicate and large test system is needed for stress ratio under 0 conditions. For these reason, in this study, the fatigue test system for short pipe, the stress ratio R=-1 was designed and produced, and the fatigue test was performed with wall-thinned real pipe. During the fatigue test, the initiation crack occurred in wall-thinned part of pipe with the maximum stress. The crack propagated and fractured finally. The load factor correcting the effect of the structure of test system was obtained and the fatigue test stresses were corrected by applying the load factor to fatigue data. Therefore, if the length of pipe is short, the device developed in this study can be used for the fatigue test of real pipe.
