무라카미 하루키의 『색채가 없는 다자키 쓰쿠루와 그가 순례를 떠난 해』 론 - 무의식과 의식이 혼재하는 공간으로서의 꿈의 세계 - = A Study on Haruki Murakami’s Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage – The World of Dream as a Space Where Consciousness and Unconsciousness Are Intermingled –

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the present article, I analyse Haruki Murakami’s(2013) Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and his Years of Pilgrimage and explore the interrelation between the spirit of humans and their dream. In this novel, the male protagonist, Tsukuru Tazaki, was excluded from his friends’ group in high school. He meets his friends again when he turned 36 to overcome the psychological problem associated with exclusion from his friends’ group, and he recovers from the problem after knowing the truth of their relationship. After being excluded from his friends’ group, he had a sexual dream. I will analyse it in connection with Freud’s psychoanalysis, with special focus on the following questions: What does ‘dream’ mean to the spirit of humans? What does the dream represent, and what meaning does it bring to humans? Looking for the connection between the dream world and the real world, I would like to understand the issues in our world and approach the meaning represented by the dream of humans as Freud’s interpretation of dream. Also, when one suppresses his own emotion and lust in order to protect the group, I observe his transformed personality. I regard it as a type of violence, and I wish to explore the pathologic figures which Murakami has formed since his debut, by looking at the female called Shiro, who demonstrates how the denial of emotions of an individual leads to the domain of death, replacing the role played by pathologic phenomena.
