      The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of physical education for the succession of hour conventional culture in physical education.
      For this study, two tasks are set up as follows:
      First, To investigate the role of physical education as a primary function of education which is related with the succession of conventional culture.
      Secondly, To find out the reason why the physical culture should have been cut off during Japanese colorial period and after Korean liberation.
      In conclusion,
      This study suggests some directions of the role of physical education.
      First, we must overcome the western physical culture.
      Secondly, we must create new concept of physical education and our own conventional physical culture is presented variously in education.
      Thirdly, we will recognize the importance of culture exchange. Culture has to interchange of another culture.
