드라마 <HUMANS(휴먼스)>에 나타나는 휴머노이드 로봇의 수용 태도 연구 - 테크노필리아와 테크노포비아, 그리고 테크노 소브라이어티를 중심으로 - = A Study on the Acceptance Attitude of Humanoid Robots Appearing in the Drama “HUMANS” - Focusing on Technophilia, Technophobia, and Techno-sobriety -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 최근 인공지능 기술의 발전으로 현실로 다가오고 있는 휴머노이드형인공지능 로봇들의 등장에 대한 인간의 양가적 수용 태도(테크노필리아와 테크노포비아)를 드라마 <휴먼스>를 통해 명징하게 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 미래 휴머노이드 로봇 시대를 준비하기 위한 우리들의 태도와 방향성으로 테크노 소브라이어티(Techno-sobriety)를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다.
구체적인 연구방법론은 시나리오 기법을 활용한 내러티브 분석이다. 시나리오기법은 불확실한 미래를 대비하기 위해 다양한 가능성을 모의 탐색할 수 있는 방법론으로 문화․ 예술 분야에서 시나리오 기법과 같은 기능과 역할을 하는 장르가 바로 SF이다. SF는 과학적 정당성과 개연성을 통해 일어나지 않은 미래를 있을 법한세계로 스토리텔링 한다. 따라서 휴머노이드 로봇과 인간의 갈등과 공존의 스토리를 담고 있는 SF 드라마 <휴먼스>의 내러티브를 분석하여 인물들의 로봇 수용 태도의 다각적 변화를 탐색하는 것은 연구의 타당성을 높이고 단순한 이론적 예측을 넘어 인간과 기술의 공진화를 위한 문화적․ 사회적 시사점을 도출하는데 적합하고 할수 있다.
<휴먼스>의 분석은 3가지 유형의 인물 군으로 나누어 진행하였다. 첫째, 테크노필리아적 성향을 가진 신스 개발자와 기업가, 둘째, 신스 사용으로 자신들의 사회적 역할과 기능이 대체될지 모른다는 두려움에 처한 테크노포비아적 성향을 가진 인물군, 셋째, 기술에 대한 특별한 의심도 열정도 가지지 않은 경험이 부족하고 모호한태도의 일반 사용자 군이다. 분석 결과 특이한 점은 어떤 유형의 인물 군인지와 상관없이 휴머노이드 로봇과 함께 생활을 하는 과정 중에 그들의 태도가 변화하는 인물들이 생겨났다는 점이다. 이 변화하는 인물을 본고에서는 테크노 소브라이어티라고 명명하고 향후 인류가 지향해야 하는 방향성임을 제안하였다. 테크노 소브라이어티는 기술에 대한 낙관과 비관을 초월하여 인간과 기술의 관계를 성찰하고 윤리적이고 지속가능한 개발 가능성을 모색하는 태도이다.
이와 같은 연구는 인문학적인 관점에서 과열된 기술 발전을 성찰하고 머지않은미래에 인간과 휴머노이드 로봇이 어떻게 공진화할 것인지에 대한 포스트휴먼 담론형성에 기여할 수 있다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to systematically examine the ambivalent human attitudes technophilia and technophobia toward the emergence of humanoid AI robots, a phenomenon increasingly realized through advances in artificial intelligence. Using the science fiction drama <Humans> as a case study, the research proposes Techno-sobriety as a balanced and reflective approach for navigating the impending era of humanoid robots. By analyzing the narrative structure and character dynamics within the drama, the study seeks to establish a framework for understanding and shaping societal attitudes toward technological integration.
The methodology employed is narrative analysis grounded in the scenario technique, a tool designed to explore diverse possibilities in anticipation of uncertain futures. Within the realm of culture and art, science fiction serves a comparable function, projecting plausible future worlds through scientifically justified storytelling. Accordingly, analyzing the narrative of <Humans>, which depicts the conflicts and coexistence between humans and humanoid robots, provides a robust basis for deriving cultural and social insights into the co-evolution of humanity and technology, beyond the scope of theoretical predictions.
The analysis categorizes characters into three archetypal groups: (1) synth developers and technophilic entrepreneurs who exhibit a strong enthusiasm for technology, (2) individuals with technophobic tendencies who fear the displacement of their social roles and functions by synths, and (3) general users whose ambivalence stems from limited experience, marked by neither overt suspicion nor strong enthusiasm toward technology. A key finding of this research is that the attitudes of these individuals evolve through their interactions and coexistence with humanoid robots, revealing shifts that transcend initial predispositions.
This dynamic process is conceptualized as Techno-sobriety, an approach that transcends the dichotomy of technological optimism and pessimism. It emphasizes ethical reflection on the human-technology relationship and advocates for sustainable pathways of technological integration. By addressing the multidimensional and fluid changes in attitudes toward humanoid robots, this study contributes to the formation of posthuman discourse, offering a critical humanities perspective on the co-evolution of humans and humanoid robots in the near future.
