디지털 박물관 외교 : 평화의 유럽통합, 유로피아나 사례 = Digital Museum Diplomacy : The Case of Europeana and European Integration for Peace

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 전쟁의 종식과 번영을 의미하는 유럽통합이 박물관을 통해서 어떻게 구현되는지, 디지털 외교로서 어떠한 의미와 가능성을 갖는지 분석했다. 이를 위해 집단의 기억이 개인과 집단의 정체성 형성 및 통합과정에서 어떠한 역할을 하는지 살펴보고, 디지털 박물관 플랫폼인 유로피아나(Europeana)를 중심으로 개인의 기억이 단순한 과거의 서사를 넘어 사회적 담론과 연결되는 과정을 조명했다.
본 연구에서는 개인의 기억 주체화가 과거의 상처를 단순히 억압된 기억으로 남기지 않고, 이를 재구성하여 개인과 공동체의 새로운 정체성을 형성하는 과정을 강조한다. 이를 디지털 박물관에서 재현된 기억의 공유와 상호작용을 통해 초국가적 차원의 화해를 촉진하고, 유럽 통합의 상징적 기제로 작동하는 방식을 분석하였다.
결론적으로, 유로피아나는 디지털 기술을 활용하여 전쟁과 평화의 복합적 서사를 기록하고 공유하며, 과거와 현재를 연결하는 플랫폼으로 기능한다. 그러나 이러한 과정에서 기억과 서사가 반드시 동일하지는 않다. 개인들은 전시를 통해 자신의 기억을 공유하고, 자전적 내러티브를 조정하게 된다. 이를 통해 개인의 치유와 정체성 재구축, 사회적 화해 네러티브 강화와 유럽인으로서의 인식(소속감)과 글로벌 시민에게는 유럽에 대한 이해를 높이는 계기를 마련할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 디지털 문화 외교의 새로운 가능성을 제시하며, 유럽의 사례를 통해 디지털 플랫폼이 국제적 연대와 평화 구축에 기여할 수 있는 잠재력을 논의하였다.

This study explores the conceptual evolution of digital museum diplomacy and examines the role of memories of war and conflict in shaping individual and collective identities, as well as in advancing the process of European integration. Focusing on the digital museum platform Europeana, the research highlights how individual memories transcend simplistic narratives of the past to become integrated into broader social discourses. Europeana provides a digital space where European citizens can share their experiences and memories, contributing to the construction of reconciliation and peace narratives.
The study emphasizes the reconstruction of individual memories as a mechanism for forming new identities for both individuals and communities, moving beyond the repression of past wounds. Additionally, it analyzes how digital museums facilitate transnational reconciliation through memory sharing and interaction, serving as symbolic mechanisms for European integration.
In conclusion, Europeana leverages digital technology to document and share complex narratives of war and peace, functioning as a platform that bridges the past and the present. This process plays a crucial role in promoting individual healing, fostering social harmony, and realizing the ideals of European integration. By using the European case as an example, this study presents new opportunities for digital cultural diplomacy and explores the potential of digital platforms to foster international solidarity and peacebuilding.
