Plato is one of philosophers scrutinizing eros as a philosophical context. The concept of eros gives us implications that human as indeterminate being aspires to possess beauty and goodness forever. According to Plato’s the ladder of beauty, it starts from sexual desire, but it has an aspect of philia and agape in the process of ascent & descent. This paper delves into moral educational implications of Plato’s theory of eros based upon his writings: Symposium, Phaedrus and Republic. First, The pursuit of beauty makes a bridge between the sensible world and the intelligible world. Second, purified eros approaches moral insight. Last, ascent and descent of eros shows us the relationship of educational love.
