라틴아메리카 합창에 관한 연구 : 베네수엘라 작곡가 Alberto Grau의 활동을 중심으로 = A Study on Choral Music in Latin America

국문 초록 (Abstract)

20세기의 후반기로 접어들며 세계합창의 흐름에 베네수엘라, 멕시코 등 라틴아메리카 합창음악이 유입되었는데, 이는 곧 다문화합창음악이라는 새로운 조류를 이루었고 그 열기는 여전히 식을 줄 모르고 있다.

이에 대한 국내에서의 연구는 아직 보고된 바 없다. 이에 본 논문은 다채로운 시각에서 세계합창의 흐름을 바라보는데 도움이 되고자, 베네수엘라의 작곡가 Alberto Grau와 그의 합창활동을 중심으로 라틴아메리카의 합창음악에 대하여 연구하였다.

Alberto Grau는 1967년에 합창단 Schola Cantorum de Caracas를 창단하고. 이 합창단의 활동을 시작으로 베네수엘라의 합창음악 붐을 이끌며 작곡가 겸 지휘자로 세계무대에 등장한다. 그는 또 언어와 문화적 동질감을 바탕으로 볼리비아, 브라질, 콜롬비아, 코스타리카, 쿠바, 칠레, 과테말라, 멕시코 등 라틴아메리카 전역의 작곡가들과 음악단체들을 네트워킹하고, 이들과 함께 중남미의 전통선율을 합창으로 재구성하는 등의 활동을 통하여 큰 반향을 일으켰다.
Alberto Grau는 또 진지한 합창작품이나 민속선율의 편곡뿐만 아니라 아동・청소년을 위한 작품, 움직임이 결합된 작품(Eurythmy), 환경합창 등을 제안함으로써 작곡가로서의 영역을 보다 적극적으로 넓혀나가는 한편, 지휘활동 및 지휘관련 저술활동과 합창교육, 그리고 나아가 단체설립 및 네트워킹 등의 활동을 통하여 라틴아메리카의 합창음악 발전의 중심에서 견인차 역할을 해 사람 중 하나로 파악된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the second half of the 20th century, Latin American choral music such as Venezuelan and Mexican was introduced into world choral society, which soon formed a new trend of multi-cultural choral music, and it seems the trend will be continued for the time being.
As per the trend, no research has been reported yet. Therefore, in order to offer a wider spectrum to identify the flow of world choral music, this thesis studied the choral music in Latin America, focusing on the Venezuelan composer Alberto Grau and his choral activities.

Alberto Grau founded the Schola Cantorum de Caracas in 1967. Starting with this choir's activity, he led the Venezuela choral music boom and appeared on the world stage as a new composer and conductor. Based on linguistic and cultural homogeneity, he also networked composers and music organizations from all over the Latin America, including Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico and so on.
Together with them, he arranged the traditional melodies in Latin America for choral music which led to far-reaching repercussions.

Alberto Grau also proactively expands his field as a composer by proposing not only serious choral works or arrangements, but also works for children and adolescents, works combined with movement (Eurythmy), and choral works for the environments. It is recognized that Alberto Grau is one of the key choral musicians who played a role as a driving force in the development of choral music in Latin America, through his conducting, conducting-related writings, choral education, and further activities such as establishing organizations and networking.
