This paper is a study on an alternative with which one can seek for co-existence and symbiosis with others overcoming anxiety and alienation inquired from the perspective of Seonbi`s Gamseong(感性), especially Gobong(高峯) Gi Dae-seung(奇大升)`s pursuit of Rak(樂). However, this is not a request for following Seonbi``s character idealizing or assuming it a certain class of Joseon Dynasty as a complete model. It is, neither, to re-discuss the positive meaning of Seonbi, popularly used. Seonbi implies a cultural identity and the orientation of ideas of the times, being transformed variously both in time and space like the change of the letter representing its meaning. The term, Seonbi is a “constructed word” with multi-layer that has been formed through various time of life and web of significance. In this sense, Seonbi or Seonbi Jeongshin(精神, spirit) used commonly needs to be used restrictively. I tried to find a boundary through Gobong. The human maturity of personality through Rak(樂) is achieved not in the process of dualistic segmentation between coolness and passion but by concentration through the extremely difficult interrelation between “body and mind,” two inseparable elements. This process is an action of seeking for the essence(性) of the world and human being through feeling(感) as a whole, since man searches for a possibility of communication, truly feeling the essence of others as objective world not only ego as subject but also objective world as the other, which can be expressed in the term, Gamseong(感性). This essay has the following purposes: first, it has confirmed the conceptual layer we commonly perceive and use through the term, Seonbi. This can apply to the term, Gamseong(感性), directly; and second, I examined the aspects of Seonbi`s expression of Gamseong(感性) through Gobong who tried to live freely like wind that is not caught by a net. This is also a work of confirming a point of Confucianism in Honam(Jeolla Province).
