      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Hangeul was first published as a coterie magazine in February 1927 and was revived in 1932 as the academic journal of Joseoneo Hakhoe(the Korea Language Society), which was published up to total 102 issues in Korean by 1942. It aspired to be the magazine that specializes in the research of Korean language from the beginning, and also contributed to developing theories on compiling Korean dictionary and collecting vocabulary and spreading the awareness of the significance of the Korean Language and Hangeul(the Korean alphabets) throughout the Korean society. The nine issues immediately following the enactment of the Korean Orthography(한글맞춤법 통 일안) by Joeoneo Hakhoe were published in the form of a newspaper to concentrate on the dissemination of its orthography.<BR/> These 102 issues are the result of the determination to ‘preserve Korean language’ despite the harsh economic situation in the midst of suppression and interference of the Japanese Government-General of Korea. This process could not have been made possible without the devoted help and dedicated efforts by Lee Jung‑geon, Shin Myeong‑gyun, Lee Yun‑jae, and Lee Seok‑rin.
