The purpose of this study is to research management criteria of standard and specifications for livestock utensils, containers and packages other countries and conduct field survey on the domestic dairy farm and abattoirs, in order to figure out various aspects of the current ‘standard and specifications for livestock utensils, containers and packages’. The current state of the U.S.A., the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and South Africa was researched, as well as the standard of EHEDG and 3-A. In the U.S.A., USPHS and FDA are enforcing the regulations on the materials of reusable containers, equipments, storage tank according to the Grade ‘A“ Pasteurized Milk Ordinance. In the UK, ”A Practical Guide for Milk Producers“ states that toxic materials cannot be contained in the facilities and ”Meat Industry Guide“ prevents using galvanized zinc and/or non-toxic metals with corrosion resistance property as well as using wood. EHEDG has a criteria on the usage of AISI-300 Series STS and surface roughness(Ra) - under 0.8 ㎛. 3-A hygiene criteria recommends using AISI-300 Series STS(except 303 STS which is considered inappropriate), and also cooperated with EHEDG/NSF on establishing a regulation on the materials used in the sanitation facilities and this regulation is currently used among European countries as well as the U.S.A. Lead content in tin for plating and metals for repair and soldering is regulated as under 0.1%, 0.1% and 0.2%, respectively in both U.S.A. and Japan which shows that their rules are more strict compared to Korea. Field survey in Korea showed that the facilities were 304STS, milk-tank hoses were certified according to 3-A standard, rubber materials of the milking apparatus was permitted to be used in food processing facilities. colours were uesd blue no.1 and red no 3. For field survey, hazardous materials were investigated on 13 kinds of metals, 5 kinds of rubbers, 1 kind of PVC and surface roughness on metals. As a result, hazardous material tests were conformed with acceptance criteria of standard and specification for food utensils, containers and packages. surface roughness of metal was conformed by 0.8um, which complies with acceptance criteria of foreign nations. This research suggests political alternatives for establishment of a soldering standard, improvement on lead content of 0.1%, management proposal of standard and specification for livestock utensils, containers and packages, and sanitization facility, expecting contribution to safe management of livestock product and public health.
