칸트에 있어서 의지와 선택의지

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 칸트의 의지 개념에 대해 다룬다. 의지는 칸트 윤리학에서 핵심적인 개념인 자유의 이해를 위해 필수적인 개념이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이 개념에 대한 논의는 그렇게 많지 않았고 그것이 논의되더라도 부수적인 것에 머물렀다. 그러나 의지 개념에 대한 이해는 칸트의 윤리학의 이해를 위해 가장 중요한 개념임에 틀림없으며, 우리가 이 개념을 명확하게 이해하지 못한다면 칸트 윤리학 전반을 오해할 가능성이 크다. 칸트는 의지의 자유에 관한 논의에서 의지 개념을 두 가지로 사용한다. 그것은 의지(Wille)와 선택의지(Willkür)이다. 칸트는 그의 저서에서 이 두 용어를 꾸준히 사용해 왔다. 그러나 이 두 용어는 그것의 의미가 분명히 규정되지 않은 가운데 오래도록 사용되었다. 그는 가장 후기의 저서 중 하나인 ꡔ도덕형이상학ꡕ에서 그것에 관하여 비로소 분명한 규정을 하였다. 문제는 이러한 의지 개념 규정에 의거하여 이전의 글들을 검토해 볼 경우, 일관된 해석이 나오지 않는다는 것이다. 많은 칸트 연구가들은 칸트의 이론에 대해 긍정적 입장을 가지든 부정적 입장을 가지든 의지 개념에 있어서, 그리고 나아가 자유 개념에 있어서 비판하는 것은 직간접적으로 이와 관련이 있다. 칸트가 그의 저서들, 특히 비판기의 저서들에서 의지와 선택의지를 애매하게 사용했다는 것은 분명하다. 이 논문에서 밝혀보려고 하는 것은 그럼에도 불구하고 칸트의 의지 개념이 일관된 의미를 가질 수 있는가 하는 점이다. 이 논문은 그것을 위해 칸트의 비판기 저서들과 후기 저서들 사이에서 의지 개념이 어떻게 사용되고 있는지를 살펴보고, 칸트 연구자들 가운데 몇 사람의 해석들을 검토함으로써, 칸트의 의지 개념의 일관된 사용의 가능성을 확인해 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This Thesis deals with Kant's "the will(der Wille)-concept". It is indispensable to us in studying on Kant's ethics, that we comprehend it. Because the freedom is the one of the most important concepts in his ethics and the will is the basis of it. Kant applied two concepts to the will in the argument about the freedom of the will. They were "Wille" and "Willkür". But he did not prescribe clearly and accurately their meanings in his works, till the 1790. He prescribed them in "Metaphysik der Sitten(1798)", for the first time. But when we apply the latter meanings to the former. we can discover many inconsistent phrases and clauses. On this inconsistency, many commentator bring forward to us their own interpretation about Kant's will-concepts, whether they reach the affirmative conclusion in Kant's arguments about the will, or not. The principal task of this thesis is to investigate the possibility of the consistent interpretation about Kant's will-concepts. The fulfill of this task will make us to understand more accurately the freedom and the moral law in Kant's ethics.
