Marketing strategies through pop-up stores have gained significant attention as consumers have increased outdoor activities following the lifting of social distancing measures due to the coronavirus pandemic. Pop-up stores are being highlighted as spaces that offer new experiences and entertainment, while portraying a young and trendy image by targeting the MZ generation.
Recently, the K-pop idol industry has been expanding its global cultural and economic influence with explosive growth and popularity worldwide. Therefore, this study examines existing research on pop-up stores and consumer orientations, integrating newly considered factors such as participating artists and human interactions. The aim is to explore how brand attachment, pop-up store visit satisfaction, product characteristics, and consumer orientations influence purchase intentions. The findings of the study identified scarcity, accessibility, service quality, product practicality, comfort, sensory appeal, and artist participation as key characteristics of idol pop-up stores. Additionally, human brand attachment and impulse buying were identified as critical consumer orientations. Among these, scarcity, service quality, comfort, sensory appeal, artist participation, and human brand attachment were found to significantly impact satisfaction. Furthermore, scarcity, accessibility, product practicality, comfort, artist participation, and impulse buying tendencies were found to influence purchase intentions.
These results provide a clear understanding of the defining characteristics of idol pop-up stores. Consequently, through systematic analysis, this study offers valuable insights for the formulation of effective marketing strategies in related industries.
