The main approach of this study is to compare the types of theories, elements and premises in Christian counselling and general counselling in order to point out the fundamental differences that make integration between these two groups impossible to achieve. Moreover, in an attempt to define the identity of Christian counselling, this paper examines the basic principles of Christian counselling and identifies idiosyncracies inherent to Christian counselling. The conclusion reached here is that the identity of Christian counselling, which is clearly built upon a Theological structure, is fundamentally different from that of general counselling. Finally, in order to develop the identity of Christian counselling, this study emphasizes the importance of education from a Christian point of view.
