A finite element method is carried out to analyze flexures which is the structural weakest region in the pendulum. Stress analysis and deflection are calculated for structural integrity. Critical crack size is evaluated to prevent failure from pre-crack which is induced by processing. Expert system to analyze pendulum structure is developed. Preprocessor includes material properties, geometry data and boundary condition for analysis. Those data are used for automatic mesh generation. All data for analysis are automatically transferred to finite element program. Postprocessor represents the maximum stress and deflection and critical crack size.
