시설청소년의 자립준비에 관한 연구 = A study on the readiness for independent living of adolescents in the residential care - The comparison of perception of adolescents and care provider -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 시설청소년의 개인적 특성, 배치상황, 그리고 사회적 지원이 자립준비에 어떻게 관련되며 영향을 미치고 있는가를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 아동양육시설 50개소의 고등학교 2학년, 3학년 학생 208명과 이들을 담당하고 있는 보육사 133명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 측정도구로는 행동문제척도, 학교적응척도, 대처능력척도, 부모와의 유대척도, 자립준비척도가 사용되었다. 자료분석을 위해서 빈도분석, 상관분석, t-test, 다중회귀분석을 하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 시설청소년의 자립준비정도는 청소년과 보육사에게서 모두 `보통` 이상이었으며, 그 중 자기관리기술은 전체 평균보다 낮게 나타났다 청소년들은 개인적 특성 중 학교적응, 행동문제, 대처능력과 배치상황 중 배치횟수와 시설의 입소배경, 그리고 사회적 지원으로서 보육사와의 유대를 자립준비에 영향을 주는 요소로 보았으며, 보육사들은 청소년의 행동문제, 성, 학교적응, 시설의 자립교육 등이 청소년의 자립준비에 영향을 미친다고 인식하였다. 따라서 시설청소년의 자립준비를 위해서는 개인의 심리사회적 대처능력의 향상이 필요하며 학업 및 진로지도, 행동문제에 대한 상담 및 개입프로그램, 그리고 개별 자립사정 및 자립준비 프로그램이 체계적으로 제공되어야 한다. 또한 양육과정에서 부모와 보육사와의 유대를 강화시키기 위한 정부와 시설의 방안들이 추진되어야 할 것이다.

The readiness for independent living of adolescents in residential care is the process to improve the gradual independence and responsibility about their lives: However, for adolescents in residential care, the natural developmental process may be often mitigated by their individual and group experiences both prior to and while in care. The present study examined the readiness for independent living of adolescents who have been in the residential care system. Data for this study were taken from the survey of 208 high-school students and 133 care providers in 50 residential care facilities. The major findings are as follows. The readiness level for independent living of adolescents was higher than average scores from adolescents and care providers. But basic skills from both sides was found lower level than average scores of the readiness for independent living. Of the individual characteristics, school adaptation, coping behavior and behavior problem and gender contributed to readiness for independent living of adolescents. Among them, adolescents pointed that school adaptation was the most influential factor, but care providers recognized that behavior problem was the most influential factor. Of the placement situations, a number of placement experience and of parent divorce and economic difficulties were negatively influential, and of the social supports, attachment to care providers and involvement in independent living program positively contributed to the readiness for independent living of adolescents. Findings from this study suggest that social work practice should deal with psychological and social problems of the adolescents in residential care through applying counseling techniques, group work methods to assessment and intervention of their problems and public policy should establish placement system to contact the child and their parents in care continuously, and enact programs of adolescents preparing for the independent living prior to discharge of residential care.
