This study aims to include the literary works of Crown Prince Hyo-myeong, who lived in Changdeokgung Palace(昌德宮) as a core member of the royal family, within the category of royal literature. It analyzes his poems, "Sangrim sipgyeong(上林十景)" and "Uiduhap sipgyeong(倚斗閤十景)" from the perspective of inheriting and expanding royal literary traditions. Although Hyomyeong did not ascend the throne, he was posthumously honored as King Ik-jong(翼宗), and the inclusion of his works in Yeolseong-eoje(列聖御製, Collected Writings of Successive Kings) indicates that he can be a subject of royal literature. Thus, analyzing his work is significant for expanding the scope of royal literature.
In "Sangrimsipgyeong", Hyo-myeong faithfully inherited the ancestral tradition of realizing the abstract "Ten Views" within the actual space of the palace. While adopting the themes and rhyme schemes of King Sukjong(肅宗), he recreated the aesthetics of the Changdeokgung rear garden using sensory and delicate expressions. Furthermore, he created "Uiduhap sipgyeong" by precisely observing small objects within a limited space. In these works, he captured his aspirations to follow the achievements of previous kings and projected his inner orientation onto nature. This represents an expansion of the 'sipgyeong(十景, Ten Views)' by shifting from macroscopic landscapes to intimate daily spaces, internalizing public royal traditions into a private domain.
