There are so many similar pigmentary diseases, thus differential diagnosis is frequently difficult. However, for proper treatment, accurate diagnosis is important. Clinically and/or histologically mimicking pigmentary diseases including lichen planus pigmentosus/ashy dermatosis, acanthosis nigricans/confluent and reticulated papillomatosis, melasma/Rhiel`s dermatosis, Becker`s nevus/ erythromelanosis follicularis faciei and colli, idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis/hypopigmented hyperkeratosis, and other interesting pigmentary diseases will be discussed. The main clinical and histopathologic findings of these diseases and important differential diagnostic points for accurate diagnosis will be illustrated.
