융합공연으로서의 서커스발레 <백조의 호수> 작품분석 = Analysis of the Circus Ballet <Swan Lake> as a Convergence Performance

국문 초록 (Abstract)

목적: 본 연구의 목적은 서커스발레로 불리어지는 융복합공연인 중국 시안 아크로바틱 예술단의 <백조의 호수>를 대상으로 이 공연에서 보여 지고 있는 융복합적 특징적 요소가 작품 속에 어떻게 녹아 있는지에 대한작품 분석을 하고자 한 것이다.
방법: 분석방법은 무용 비평가이자 학자로서 무용 공연 분석에 대한 문화적 접근법을 강조한 수잔 포스터(Susan Leigh Foster)의 ‘텍스트로서의 무용 (Dance as Text)’ 분석 방법을 응용하여 결론을 내린 현상학적 질적 연구이다.
결과: 첫째, 시안 아크로바틱 예술단의 서커스발레인 <백조의 호수>는 작품에 대한 해석을 더 현대적으로 함으로써 관객들의 현실적 상상력을 자극하고, 극적 몰입을 유도하는 등 역동적인 전개로 이어갈 수 있게 하였다. 둘째, 시안 아크로바틱 예술단의 <백조의 호수>는 전통발레를 서커스 및 전통적인 중국무용의 요소와 통섭함으로써 서양 클래식 발레의 틀을 벗어난 독창적인 예술작품을 선보였다. 셋째, 시안 아크로바틱 예술단의 <백조의 호수>공연은 무대 디자인과 장치 소품 등에서 극적 현실감을 주며 관객들의 몰입을 유도한다. 넷째, 시안 아크로바틱 예술단의 작품 <백조의 호수>에 나오는 무용수의 기술기교는 무용작품 공연에 필요한표현적 어휘를 풍부하게 해 줄 뿐만 아니라 무용단의 품격과 특징을 선명하게 드러내고 있다. 다섯째, 음악의 다양한 리듬과 템포의 강약을 사용, 중국과 현대의 결합으로 표현된 의상, 조명의 다채로운 색상의 변화로 극적 분위기를 잘 표현하고 있다.
결론: 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 시안 아크로바틱 예술단의 작품 <백조의 호수>는 기존 발레작품과는 차별화된 독창적인 작품으로 분석되었다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the work of <Swan Lake> by the Xi'an Acrobatic Art Troupe of China, a fusion performance known as circus ballet, and to examine how the fusion-like characteristic elements shown in this performance are incorporated into the work Methods: The analytical method is a phenomenological qualitative study that concludes by applying the ‘Dance as Text’ analytical method of Susan Foster, a dance critic and scholar who emphasizes a cultural approach to analyzing dance performances.
Results: First, the circus ballet <Swan Lake> of the Xi'an Acrobatic Art Troupe stimulates the realistic imagination of the audience by interpreting the work in a more modern way, and leads to a dynamic development by inducing dramatic immersion. Second, the Xi'an Acrobatic Art Troupe's <Swan Lake> presents an original work of art that breaks away from the framework of Western classical ballet by integrating traditional ballet with elements of circus and traditional Chinese dance. Third, the Xi'an Acrobatic Art Troupe's <Swan Lake> performance induces the audience's immersion by providing a sense of dramatic realism in the stage design and props. Fourth, the technical skills of the dancers in the Xi'an Acrobatic Art Troupe's <Swan Lake> not only enrich the expressive vocabulary required for performing the dance work, but also clearly demonstrate the dignity and characteristics of the dance troupe. Fifth, the dramatic atmosphere is well expressed through the use of various rhythms and tempo of music, costumes expressed as a combination of Chinese and modern times, and colorful changes in lighting.
Conclusion: Based on the above results, the Xi'an Acrobatic Art Troupe's work <Swan Lake> was analyzed as an original work that is differentiated from existing ballet works.
