First life of Sinmi(信眉) was to restore Buddhism that was declined by the policy to repress Buddhism in early Chosun period. So he was shunned by confucian courtiers and confucian scholars, and was blamed by them. The confucian courtiers and confucian scholars thought that Buddhist monks was to dazzle people by the false story and to forsake king and parents and not to do the military service and the labor service. And they regarded Buddhist monks as people to live an idle life who didn`t work. In king sungjong period, the voice to repress Buddhism of confucian courtiers growed. Then King Seongjong(成宗) sighed out that Buddhist monks was his people and he didn`t want to burn all temples of his country and to kill all Buddhist monks. The strong supporter of Sinmi was a royal family. Sinmi regarded a royal family as a supporter to restore Buddihism. So Sinmi reconstructed Bokchunsa and Sangwonsa of a royal family`s temple to pray long live the king and lucky of contry. In late king Sejong(世宗) period, Sinmi and Kim su on indoctrinated king Sejong in dogmas of Buddhism. The king Sejong interested highly in Buddhism and ordered Suyangdaegun(首陽大君) to get a explanatory note of Sunjongyounggajip. This happened by a Buddhist sermon of Sinmi. The king Sejong made full use of Sinmi`s knowledge of Buddhism. So Suyangdaegun and Anpyoungdaegun was converted to Buddhism of Sinmi. The king Sejo(世祖) had especially the merciful heart of Buddha from Sinmi`s education.
