디지털화 기록 관리를 위한 메타데이터 요소(안) 설계 = A Study on Designing Metadata Elements for the Management of Digitized Records

This study aims to design the metadata elements for managing and maintaining digitized records resulting from digitization. The digitized records were first defined and characterized, then assigned as copies and surrogates for source records. Next, the factors to be considered when designing metadata elements for digitized records were determined by comparing standards from different countries like the United States and the United Kingdom.
As a result of the comparison, establishing a relationship between digitized records and source records, expanding the automatically extracted metadata elements following resource characteristics, and creating metadata for digitization processes and projects were set to be the key tasks of metadata design for managing digitized records.
Furthermore, the metadata elements for digital records and digitization processes were designed individually, and the elements to be added for each entity were proposed by referring to standards from other counties.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 디지털화 과정을 통해 생산되는 디지털화 기록의 체계적 관리와 품질 유지를 위해 필요한 메타데이터 요소(안)을 제안하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 메타데이터 요소(안)의 개발에 앞서 이 연구에서는 디지털화 기록의 정의와 특성을 확인하고, 원천 기록의 사본이자 대체물로서 디지털화 기록을 규정하여 원천 기록과의 관계를 정립하였다. 다음으로, 국내 기록관리 메타데이터 표준과 미국 및 영국의 사례를 분석하여 디지털화 기록에 대한 메타데이터 요소 비교 및 요소 설계시 고려할 사항을 도출하였다. 이러한 분석결과를 토대로 하여, 디지털화 기록 관리를 위한 메타데이터의 설계방향은 첫째, 원천 기록과 디지털화 기록의 관계 정립, 둘째, 자원 유형별 특성에 따른 자동추출 메타데이터 요소 확대, 셋째, 업무과정 및 프로젝트에 대한 메타데이터 작성 등 3가지로 정리되었다. 이에 근거하여 디지털화 기록의 메타데이터를 디지털화 기록 메타데이터과 디지털화 프로세스 메타데이터로 개체를 구분하고, 해외 사례를 참조하여 각 개체별로 추가되어야 할 요소를 제안하였다.
