The purpose of this thesis is to point out the need for literature education and cultural learning for Korean learners who live in Korea for a long time and seek to adapt to Korea, and to study in what direction literature and culture learning can be converged in real Korean education.
With the recent development of the media, HALLYU has spread from Asia to the rest of the world. Demand for learning Korean has also increased dramatically, with the creation of a Korean proficiency test system and private Korean language education institutes. The number of students seeking life and long-term education in Korea has increased as well as simply in Korea. However, Korean society has not been prepared for the cultural adaptation of foreign visitors, which has led to the problem of Korean learners' cultural maladjustment.
This thesis first looked at what Korean society was in and how this social environment negatively affected Korean learners. He argued for the need to learn culture by associating it with Korea's unique culture while discussing the global trend.
After looking at the misadaptation situations that Korean learners are facing, we looked at what role Korean education, especially literature, could play in these situations. In addition to the general utility of literature as a whole, it also advocated the need for Korean literature to be only effective and educated. Since then, we have selected three cultural phenomena that are difficult or curious for Korean learners to understand and find out through specific literary works how related literature education can be achieved. In particular, the usefulness of literature education was materialized by the selection of one of the three works to form a real class.
The fact that the actual class failed to take place and that the selected literary works and cultural phenomena were limited is the limit of the original. However, it is meaningful that the center of the problem of modern Korean society in the entire TOPIK-focused Korean language education was focused on advanced foreign learners who are suffering from cultural maladjustment.
