Upon observing the voting tendencies of the Korean working class, members of which often cast votes for the conservative party and display political acts incongruous with the class identity, one must question the Marxist definition of the classical model of class. Yet, complete abandonment of the class model in Korea is also unrealistic. This essay is a theoretical attempt to overcome the gap between such political theories and the Korean reality, and to provide an explanation of the political situation in Koreathrough a modified class model. Much of the political theories in the essay borrow the frameworks of Pierre Bourdieu to criticize his concept of habitus and to be modified to be applicable to Korean politics. The goal of Korean politics, based on this modified model of class, is termed, cultural democracy.
