      The purpose of this study is to test the effect of group-counseling program for personality edification on self-concept and relationships among peers when applying the program to elementary school students, and to provide the fundamental ways to build up the positive self-concept and desirable relationships among peers.
      Questions are as follows:
      First, How does the group-counseling program for personality edification affect to build up self-concept for elementary school students? Second, How does the group-counseling program for personality edification affect to build up relationships among peers for elementary school students?
      From 3rd graders of W elementary school in S city, each 15 students are selected for experimental group and control group to test the hypothesis. The group-counseling program for personality edification is performed twice a week for five weeks, (total of ten times.)
      In order to test the program performance effect of this study, the self-concept test and relationships test among peers are administered with three different steps as pre, post and follow-up tests. Then, the average and standard deviation for each group are calculated and the significance is examined by F-test.
      The findings of the study are followings;
      First, It appears to give optimistic effects to build up the self-concept to the students participating in the group-counseling program for personality edification. As the effect on the subcategories, the program is effective to improve social self-concept, personal self-concept and scholastic self-concept but not for physical self-concept.
      Second, It appears to give optimistic effects to build up the relationships among peers to the students participating in the group-counseling program for personality edification. The subcategories confidence and respect are improved.
      Therefore, it is important to apply the group-counseling program for personality edification in order to have optimistic thought and faith for oneself and desirable relationships among peers through giving children the chance to build up desirable relationships among peers and the activity to explore self-concept.
