The purposes of this study are to investigate the differences of the countertransference management ability according to the ego-strength of playtherapist, to understand the relationship between the countertransference management ability and the interpersonal relation dispositions of playtherapist, and to understand the interaction effect between the ego-strength and the interpersonal relation dispositions of playtherapist. The participants of this research are 118 playtherapists. The results of this study are as follows. First, a playtherapist who belongs to the high group of ego-strength showed high capability in dealing with the anxiety management of the countertransference management. Second, a playtherapist who has high empathic-acceptable and independent-competitive interpersonal relation dispositions showed high countertransference management ability. However, resistant-distrustful, dominant-superior, and competitive-aggressive dispositions had a negative effect on countertransference management ability. Third, there was a significant interaction effect between the ego-strength and resistant-distrustful interpersonal relation dispositions, that is, playtherapists who had lower levels of ego-strength and the resistant-distrustful interpersonal relation dispositions showed a higher level of self-insight whereas playtherapists who had a tower level of ego-strength and a higher level of resistant-distrustful interpersonal relation dispositions showed a lower level of self-insight.
