One of the most important features about words in language is that they are polysemous. In traditional lexicography, polysemy has been handled with the method of sense enumeration, but regular polysemy seems to call for a more principled approach. The theory of Generative Lexicon (Pustejovsky 1995) offers a way of handling polysemy in a principled manner. This paper attempts to analyse some cases of polysemy of nouns in term of the Generative Lexicon theory, which provides rich semantic structures and the theory of complex types and semantic underspecification. Mostly, we will deal with some predicate nouns and personal nouns in Korean.
