사회통합을 위한 다문화교육 실천에 대한 논의 : 독일 바이에른 주의 학교, 박물관, 사회적 기업 교육 사례 중심으로 = A Study on the Practice of Multicultural Education for Social Integration

국문 초록 (Abstract)

다문화사회에서 발생하고 있는 타문화 간의 충돌과 대립 때문에 국가와 교육 차원에서 사회통합에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 사회통합에서의 통합은 수동적인 ‘수용 또는 순응’ 을 의미하는 것이 아니라, 개인적 정체성과 문화적 정체성을 유지하는 가운데 통합되는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 타문화, 자문화, 대중문화, 시각문화, 여성문화, 지역문화 등의 다양한 문화현상에 대해 반응하고 의미를 구성하면서 비평적 사고를 통해 판단을 이끌어 내는 지적이며 경험적인 능력을 갖추어 사회통합을 이루어 내도록 해야 한다. 성공적인 사회통합은 자국인과 이민자들이 함께 공동생활 속에서 풀어나가야 할 과제로서, 종교와 문화에 대한 이해와 소통, 학교교육 정책, 직업교육 및 일자리 창출 정책, 다문화주의에 대한 민주시민교육 등이 지속적으로 이루어질 때 가능하다. 본 연구의 목적은 상호문화주의 관점에서 사회 통합을 위한 여러 가지 정책들을 실행하고 있는 독일 다문화 정책 중 독일 바이에른 주 소재 뮌헨시의 학교 교육 정책과 교육과정에 나타난 다문화 교육 내용과 학교 밖 기관인 박물관과 미술관, 민간단체인 사회적 기업의 다문화 미술교육 실천 사례 등을 분석하여, 이를 근거로 우리나라에서 사회통합을 목적으로 하는 다문화교육의 실천 방안을 제시하는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Attention and support for the multicultural education has expanded dramatically over the last few years to cope with the changes in the Korean society. However, there has been some criticism over the direction and the characteristics of the multicultural policy which failed to reflect the unique feature of the Korean society and the discussion about the multicultural education is being conducted from the new view point. The establishment of successful social integration is the task that migrants and the public should solve together. It is only possible when there is clear understanding and communication about religion and culture, school education policy, job education and job creation policy and democratic civic education is conducted continuously.
First, multicultural policy should be converted for the purpose of the social integration. Multicultural education should be conducted to help migrants keep their own culture and identity and pursue common value as Koreas and given equal opportunities instead of focusing on assimilation multicultural policy. Second, the scope of multicultural education should be expanded to students, parents, teachers, education administrators, and civilians. Various cultural exchange and interactive relationship can be established based on a sense of multiculturalism and capabilities to understand other cultures among all the members of our society. Third, social integration through the multicultural education is only possible when the multicultural education of social enterprise, school education and museum and art gallery education are run in cooperation and harmony.
