지역사회 주민들의 발달장애인 접촉경험과 인식 연구 = A Study on the Community Residents’ Experience and Perception of Contact with the Developmental Disabilities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

발달장애인의 실질적인 사회통합을 위해서는 무엇보다 지역사회 주민들의 발달장애인에 대한 인식변화가 중요하며, 발달장애인과의 접촉경험은 발달장애인에 대한 이해를 높이기 위한 효과적인 방안으로 거론된다. 본 연구는 발달장애인 접촉경험과 발달장애인에 대한 인식 수준의 관계를 살펴보기 위해, 발달장애인친화 마을공동체 사업을 수행한 의왕시 지역주민들을 대상으로 통합방법론을 활용하여 양적 질적으로 분석하였다. 지역주민 256명이 참여한 설문조사 결과 조사대상자들의 발달장애인 접촉경험과 발달장애인에 대한 인식수준은 정적으로 유의미한 상관관계를 지니는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 마을공동체 사업 참여 경험을 지닌 15인의 지역사회 주민을 대상으로 실시한 FGI 분석 결과, 발달장애인과의 접촉을 통해 발달장애에 대한 이해를 높이고 발달장애인과 교류하면서 이들을 자연스럽게 받아들이는 모습을 찾아볼 수 있었다. 또한 발달장애인의 사회통합을 위해 지역사회에서 이들을 적극적으로 받아들이려는 노력과 함께 발달장애인 당사자와 가족도 사회에 참여하려는 의지를 지닐 필요가 있다는 의견이 제시되었다. 이러한 연구결과에 기반하여 발달장애인에 대한 인식을 개선하기 위한 제도적 실천적 방안을 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

For the practical social integration of the developmental disabled, it is important to change the perception of the developmental disabled people in the community, and the experience of contact with the developmental disabled is considered as an effective way to improve understanding of the developmental disabled. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between the experience of contact with developmental disabilities and the level of awareness of developmental disabilities, and the integrated methodology was used to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the residents of Uiwang City who carried out community project for the developmental disabled. According to the survey conducted by 256 local residents, the level of awareness of the developmental disabilities and the experience of contact with developmental disabilities of the subjects showed a positive correlation. FGI analysis conducted on 15 community residents who have experience in community projects showed that it was possible to understand the developmental disability and to accept them naturally while interacting with the developmental disability through contact with the developmental disabilities. And it was suggested that the parties and families with developmental disabilities should have a willingness to participate in society as well as efforts to actively accept them in the community for social integration of people with developmental disabilities. Based on the results of the study, institutional and practical measures were proposed to improve the awareness of people with developmental disabilities.
