한국 교회의 제자훈련 평가 및 균형 잡기: 성경신학적 관점에서 = Evaluating and Fine-Tuning of the Disciple-Training Programs of Korean Churches from the Biblical-Theological Perspective

A balanced disciple-training program today would reflect the biblical dis- cipleship model of Jesus. To follow the biblical model of discipleship, this study will investigate the disciple-training models of Korean churches from the biblical-theological perspective and incorporate suggestions on how to better reflect the biblical discipleship model of Jesus by taking a theme-based approach in the evaluation of current disciple-training programs.
It is impossible to escape from the subjective elements when one selects the themes of the Bible. In this study, however, I have done my best to include the diverse biblical themes that the Bible emphasizes.
This study analyzes the disciple-training programs of Korean churches through five biblically-emphasized categories: spirituality, morality, wisdom (holy intellect), power (of ministry), and vision. Korean churches are doing relatively well in incorporating the diverse themes categorized by spiritu- ality, power (of ministry), and vision within their disciple-training programs. However, Lee Youngsuk’s theory of character development program lacks themes from these three categories because of the nature of her approach. If a church is planning to use Lee’s theory for the Sunday school program,her theory needs to be supplemented with a holistic biblical perspective. The disciple-training programs of Korean churches tend to lack emphasis on morality and wisdom. More than half of the biblical themes on morality are missing from most disciple-training programs, themes such as speech, deed, heart/thought, mercy, justice, godliness, humility, gentleness, honesty, perseverance, self-control, peace-making, and goodness. Korean churches would need to incorporate the diverse biblical themes of morality in their discipleship programs to better address the existing moral decay within the church.
The study found that none of the disciple-training programs dealt with the category of wisdom. The christians in the early church are not only filled with faith and the Holy Spirit but also filled with wisdom (Acts 6:3, 10). The disciple-training program should be adjusted to include the category of wisdom to follow the biblical model of discipleship.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

균형 있는 제자훈련은 예수께서 모범을 보이신 성경적인 제자훈련 모델일 것이다. 성경적 제자도의 모델을 따르기 위해 한국 교회 제자훈련 프로그램 들을 성경신학적 관점에서 평가하고 보완할 점을 제안하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다.
한 가지 염두에 둬야 할 것은 제자훈련 프로그램을 평가하기 위해서 주제별 연구가 불가피함을 밝힌다. 주제의 선정에는 주관적인 요소를 피할 수 없다. 그러나 이 연구에서 최대한 성경에서 강조하는 주제를 반영하도록 힘썼다. 한국 교회의 제자훈련 사역을 성경이 강조하는 영성, 덕성, (거룩한) 지성, (사역의) 능력, 비전이란 5가지 영역의 관점에서 분석하였다. 한국 교회는 영 성, 능력, 비전 영역은 대체로 잘 수행하고 있다. 반면에 이영숙의 성품론은 프로그램의 성격상 이들 세 영역이 가장 빈약한 실정이다. 그의 성품론을 교 회학교의 교육용으로 사용하려면 이 세 영역을 보완할 필요가 있다.
한국 교회 제자훈련의 가장 큰 취약점은 덕성과 지성 영역이다. 대부분의 제 자훈련 프로그램들이 덕성 영역에 있어서 성경적인 기준의 절반에도 미치지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 한국 교회 제자훈련들은 덕성 요소들 중에 말, 행실, 마음/생각, 긍휼, 정의, 경건, 겸손, 온유, 정직, 인내, 절제, 화목, 양선 등과 같은 중요한 주제들을 대체로 제대로 다루지 않고 있다. 오늘날 도덕성의 쇠 락을 막기 위해서 한국 교회는 제자훈련 프로그램 중에 도덕성에 속한 다양 한 성경적인 주제들을 보완할 필요가 있다.
마지막으로 한국 교회 제자훈련의 치명적인 약점은 거룩한 지성 훈련의 부 재이다. 어떤 제자훈련 프로그램도 거룩한 지성의 요소들을 다루지 않고 있 다. 필자가 말하는 거룩한 지성은 성경적 지혜의 개념과 매우 가깝다. 초대 교회 성도들은 믿음과 성령이 충만했을 뿐만 아니라 지혜도 충만한 성도들 이었다(행 6:3, 10). 성경적 제자훈련으로 균형을 맞추기 위해서는 거룩한 지 성의 요소들이 제자훈련에 반드시 포함되어야 할 것이다.
