고령화 사회에 따른 욕조디자인 기준설정에 관한 연구 = A Study on Criteria Establishment of Bathtub Design in the Aging Society

Thanks to the rapid industrial development and the improvement of lifestyle, the aging society has become one of the topics of conversation in the 21st century. Due to the sudden increase in the number of the elderly, industrialization, urbanization, establishment of nuclear family and individualization in modern society corresponding to the graying phenomenon, the infrastructure for the elderly has been insufficient. Therefore, the possibility for them to be in danger has been on the increase and they tend to spend their time at home because of the curtailment of their social relationship. Nevertheless, no studies concerning silver products such as the bathroom and bathing supplies for the elderly have been conducted. Therefore, this study investigates the bathtub design for the elderly considering the characteristics of rapidly increasing silver generation along with the social change on the whole. That is to say, the subject of this study is the bathtub among bath & toilet that may be dealt lightly in society and at home among the products in the dwelling space for the silver generation and the study looks at the present condition of silver generation and the analysis for the tendency for bathtub in order to suggest the direction of bathtub design that is comfortable to the elderly. The more time passes, the faster our society become an aging society. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the effective bathtub design for the elderly in the future through widespread survey and research with regards to the physical and psychological characteristics of the elderly.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

급격한 산업의 발전과 라이프스타일의 향상 등으로 도래된 21세기 현대사회에 대두되는 화두 중 하나가 고령화 사회이다. 고령화에 따른 급속한 노인 인구의 증가는 현대의 산업화, 도시화, 핵가족화, 개인화의 추세로 인해 노인을 위한 환경 인프라가 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서 노인의 사고위험이 증가하고 있으며 사회관계의 축소 등으로 노년을 가정 내에서 보내는 경우가 많아지고 있다. 이런 현실성에도 불구하고 노인을 위한 욕실과 목욕 용품 등 실버제품에 대한 깊이 있는 연구가 진행되고 있지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 사회전반적인 변화와 더불어 급격히 증가하고 있는 실버세대의 특성을 고려한 고령자를 위한 욕조디자인에 관한 연구를 고찰해보았다. 즉, 실버세대의 주거공간내 제품 중에서 사회와 가정 내에서 소홀히 다루어질 수 있는 욕실용품 중 욕조를 연구대상으로 설정하여 실버세대의 현황과 욕조에 대한 경향분석을 제시, 분석함으로서 고령자에게 편안하고 안락한 욕조디자인의 방향을 도출하여 보았다. 우리의 미래는 점점 더 초 고령사회로 접근속도가 가속화될 것이다. 따라서 고령자의 신체적 심리적 특성에 대한 폭넓은 조사와 연구를 통하여 앞으로 고령자를 위한 효율적인 욕조용품에 대한 발전된 모델의 디자인 개발이 이루어져야 한다.
