지역미술사 서술을 위한 구술사방법론 활용 가능성 : 구술연구사례를 중심으로 = Possibility of Using Oral Description Methodologies for Local Art History : focused on the history of oral research cases

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The study is based on the experience of a research and its participants whose work mainly focuses on oral records of senior artists at Gwangju Museum of Art from 2015 to 2017. The work outlines the necessity and importance of the oral record of local art history. Unlike historical writings centered on the text, the history of oral compositions revolves around a person's memory and words Thus there seems to be a distrust of individuals’ memory and words among the existing history community, but this is not much different from the literature study that depends on material interpretations that change over time. The history of oral compositions also seeks to gain authority as the authentic historical materials by talking about selected words through a memory contention.
Oral descriptions of local art history can excavate more data and restore memories by using these oral history methodologies. This can bridge the gap of local art culture, which capital-focused context is losing. It also provides an inspiration for preserving the present and upcoming local art culture. And descriptions of local art history provide a rich view of history by describing specific facts and vivid experiences of individuals that have not been discussed about in the known written art history. Ultimately, the description of local art history creates a rift in Korean art history; the use of oral methodologies can present various perspectives for the existing art history.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 2015년부터 2017년까지 광주시립미술관의 원로 작가 구술채록연구에 참여한 연구자의 경험을 바탕으로 지역미술사 서술에 구술사의 필요성과 중요성을 정리한 글이다. 구술사는 문헌사 중심의 역사서술과 다르게 사람의 기억과 말을 중심으로 서술된다. 이에 개인의 기억과 말에 대한 기존 역사학계의 불신이 있으나 이는 어떤 텍스트를 우위에 놓느냐에 따라 달라지는 문헌사와 크게 다르지 않다. 구술사도 기억의 경합을 통해 선택되어진 말을 이야기함으로서 역사적 자료로서 권위를 획득해가는 것이기 때문이다.
지역미술사 서술은 이와 같은 구술사방법론을 활용하여 더욱 많은 자료의 발굴과 기억의 복원을 해낼 수 있다. 이는 중앙 중심의 텍스트가 놓치고 있는 지역미술문화라는 공백 지점을 메꾸는 역할임과 동시에 현재와 다가올 미래의 지역미술문화를 보존하기 위한 영감을 제공할 수 있다. 그리고 지역미술사 서술은 중앙 중심으로 쓰여진 미술사가 갖지 못한 구체적 사실과 개인의 생생한 경험을 서술함으로서 역사에 대한 풍부한 관점을 제공해준다. 궁극적으론 지역미술사 서술은 중앙 중심으로 서술되는 한국미술사에 균열을 내는 작업이며, 구술사방법론의 활용은 기존 미술사에 다양한 관점을 제시해 줄 수 있는 것이다.
