This paper presents the correlations between objective and subjective qualities of compressed images. The objective qualities of compressed images should be subjectively meaningful. Five different subjective rating scales and ten objective quality measures are introduced. Three different data compression methods, Dual Hybrid Coder[3], MR-ICS-JPEG[3], and standard-JPEG, are employed. The subjective qualities are measured by 30 human observers. The correlations between objective and subjective qualities of compressed images are calculated by the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient method. Finally, the Dual Hybrid Coder produces the best correlations. This paper will be the performance evaluation of the Dual Hybrid Coder in the sense of subjective quality of compressed images.
