    This study defined Mahan earthenware and Mahan everyday pottery and attempted to restore the production(molding) process by observing the excavated earthenware from the Mahan settlements in western Honam. The most common everyday potteries of Mahan are deep bowl earthenware, long egg shape earthenware, Siru(steamer), round based jar with short neck, earthenware with a ditch(Jugu), and earthenware with a two-fold mouth. These potteries are produced through a series of processes such as clay making → basic molding → shaping → drying.
    In the basic molding process, the mouth shape is determined, which is closely related to a potter’s hand movement. In the molding stage, the body of round based jar with short neck or long egg shape earthenware is widened and the bottom is rounded, but in the case of Siru(steamer), the shape is completed through the process of making a steam hole at the bottom and attaching the handle. The widening of the body and the process of rounding the bottom became possible by the introduction of beating techniques, and it was possible to increase clay adhesion and produce the thin walled earthenware during the process of tapping the body. In the process of rounding the base, some of the production-related signs such as spinning wheel(rotating frame), etc., disappear.
    The last stage is drying of earthenware, and it is very difficult to assume the concrete method of drying through the current archaeological data. However, Siru(steamer) or earthenware with a ditch(Jugu) were able to estimate one aspect of the drying process through pillar traces and half moon grooves left in handles. In other words, the handle containing water can deform the shape of the Siru(steamer) or Jugu (earthenware with a ditch), and it is assumed to put a support under the handle to prevent it.
