대학생의 학업성취도와 그 영향요인들 간의 인과관계 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 대학생의 학업성취도와 이에 영향을 미치는 요소들의 관계를 인과모형으로 설정하고 구조방정식을 통하여 분석한 것이다. 대학생의 학업성취도는 이들의 학점으로 측정하였으며, 학업성취도에 영향을 주는 요인은 대학생들이 입학 당시에 가지고 있던 요인(투입변인), 대학 입학 후 경험하거나 대학에서 제공해 주는 경험 및 기회(과정변인) 등으로 유형화하여 이들이 산출변인인 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이 연구를 위하여 한국직업능력 개발원이 2004년부터 2006년까지 조사한 교육고용패널(Korea Education and Employment P무디: KEEP) 데이터를 활용하여 실증적인 분석을 실시하였으며, 분석대상은 2006년 현재 대학 2학년 학생 695명이다. 연구결과, 학생들의 수학능력 시험 성적은 대학생들의 학업성취도에 직접적으로는 영향을 주지 못하는 것으로 나타났으며, 오히려 대학만족도 및 교육과정 만족도 등이 수업태도에 영향을 주고, 궁극적으로는 수업태도가 학업성취도에 결정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 동아리활동 참가는 학업성취도에 부정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 연구자들은 이러한 연구결과에 기초하여 대학정책 및 대학의 운영과 관련한 몇가지 정책적인 시사점을 제시하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzed causal relations between college students' academic achievement and its factors using Structural Equation Model. In the analysis, students' academic achievement was measured by their grade point average (GPA); and factors affecting the GPA were input factors that students had before they started college life and through put factors that college students experienced during their college life such as classroom experience, out of class experience, students attitude toward their courses etc. The data for this study was obtained from the Korea Education and Employment Panel (KEEP), which was administrated by the Korean Research Institute of Vocational Education Training from 2004 to 2006. Total sample size of the analysis was 695 college students. In the study, we identified that the Korean Scholastic Aptitude Test (KSAT) did not have direct effects on college students' GPA; on the contrary, students' satisfaction on their college life and curriculum had affected on students attitude toward their courses, and finally students attitude toward their courses affected GPA. An interesting finding was the negative effects of extra curricular activities on GPA. Based on these findings, we discussed implications for colleges and universities to enhance students' academic achievement through introducing student-oriented curriculum, reducing students' stresses, enhancing classroom instructions etc.
