Recently, advertisements using sport stars have been increasing. Also it has been reported that such advertisements gain more positive responses from consumers than those general advertisements using professional models.
Most of previous research works intended to compare the effects of the advertisements using sport stars with those of the general advertisements using professional models. In this research, the researcher investigates the degree of general public’s interests in sport, the degree of their interests according to the kind of sport and the sport stars as well through applying related theory and empirical survey on the cases thereof, and tries to present a method to use sport star models in a realistic and strategic fashion from the perspective of sports marketing.
To test this, 142 participants were sampled from the age bracket that showed comparatively higher interests in sport and asked to complete a questionnaire. The sample of the population had comparatively higher loyalty to sport in their everyday life, and also revealed a positive perception on sport star model.
In this paper, the researcher raised firstly such a question as: [Research Question 1. “Are there any relationship between the effects of the advertisements using sport stars and the loyalty to sport?] Results from survey revealed that the higher loyalty to sport they had, the higher advertisements and product recognition there were (p-value < .001).
And results from verification of such question as [Research Question 2: Are there differences in the effects of the advertisements using sport stars according to the degree of people’s interests in the kind of sport and their desires to pursue information?] indicated that there were differences in correlation between the degree of their interests according to the kind of sport and the effects of advertisements.
The results from verification of [Research Question 3: Are there differences in the effects of the advertisements using sport stars according to the degree of people’s interests in the sport stars and their desires to pursue information?] showed that there were differences in correlation between the degree of interests according to the sport stars and the effects of advertisements.
Results from verification of the questions presented in this research revealed that there is a necessity to consider the loyalty to sport in connection with the subject population to advertisements in order to increase the effects of the advertisements using sport stars.
In addition, for there appeared differences in correlation between the degree of interests according to the sport stars and the effects of advertisements, degree of interests according to the kind of sport and the sport stars have to be considered.
