This study was undertaken to know the effect of hypothermic condition (23℃) on the oxygen consumption of chick embryo and the metabolic rate using the White Leghorn eggs.
The results obtained are summarized as follows.
1. The oxygen consumption of the embryo under hypothermic condition was decreased ranges to 16-54% than the normal embryo's.
2. It was suggested that the chicken embryo is more like a poikilotherm during its fatal life.
3. The metabolic rate (ml/hr/gm) of chicken embryo under hypothermic condition was decreased than that of the normal incubation temperature.
