학교문화예술교육에서 국악교육의 의미와 향후 방향성 = The Significance and Future Directions of Gugak Educationin School Cultural and Arts Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 학교문화예술교육의 일환으로서 국악교육의 의미와 향후 방향성을 조망하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 국악교육은 학생들의 감수성, 창의성, 공동체 의식 함양에 기여하며, 한국 전통문화의 정체성을 기반으로 한 공교육에서 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있다. 연구는 학교문화예술교육에서 국악교육의 역사적 전개를 개괄하고, 2022 개정 교육과정, 통합교과의 국악교육 축소, 학교예술강사지원사업 예산 삭감 등 현재 교육 환경에서의 주요 이슈를 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 국악교육의 향후 방향성을 교육현장의 강화, 정책적 접근, 창의적 교육 및 디지털 기술 활용, 지역사회 협력체계 구축, 사회문화예술교육 확대라는 5가지 측면에서 제안하였다. 마지막으로 학교문화예술교육으로서의 지속가능성과 발전 가능성을 논의하며, 학생들이 한국 전통문화를 기반으로 한 자부심을 갖고 글로벌한 문화적 정체성을 형성하는 데 기여할 수 있도록 다각적 노력이 필요함을 강조하였다.

This study aims to explore the significance and future directions of Korean traditional music (gugak) education as part of school cultural and arts education. Gugak education plays a crucial role in public education by fostering students' sensitivity, creativity, and sense of community, grounded in the cultural identity of Korean traditions. The study provides an overveiw of the historical development of gugak education within school cultural and arts education and analyzes key issues in the current educational envrionment, including the 2022 revised curriculum, the reduction of gugak education in integrated school subjects, and budget cuts in the School Arts Instructor Support Program. Based on the anlaysis, the study proposes five directions for the future of gugak education: strengthening educational practices, adopting a policy-driven approach, promoting creative education and digital technology utilization, establishing collaborative networks with local communities, and expanding socio-cultural arts education. Lastly, the study discusses the sustainability and developmental potential of gugak education in school cultural and arts education, emphasizing the need for multifaceted efforts to help students develop pride in their Korean heritage and form a global cultural identity.
