The paper reports case studies of group counseling for high school female victims of group bullying to enhance victims’ positive self-esteem and prevent recurrence of bullying and improve interpersonal relationship activities. The Subjects are four female students enrolled in an occupational high school who have been victims of group bullying since elementary school. For improve effectiveness of group counseling, we used structured art-therapy programs in the first and final stages, and peer-support group counseling in the middle stage. The program was conducted in a counseling room of the school, once a week for 14 weeks, and 50 minutes per session. To test the effect of the program, we administered pre- and post self-esteem measures, and also conducted qualitative analyses. We find that, in terms of the effectiveness of the group counseling, the average self-esteem level increased from 23.5 before the program to 28 after the program. The qualitative analyses also reveal that the group counseling using art therapy helps improve victims’ self-esteem and inter-personal relationship. We find that using art-therapy along with group counseling improves the effectiveness of the program.
