1. The Purposes of this Study
The purposes of this study was to examine, through an experience approach, the impact of the free choice play learning on development of the scientific reasoning on children. For these purposes, there were two groups of O group and T group, O group was the free choice play learning group and T group was the teacher's indicated play learning group, in other words, O group was open education system and T group was traditional education system. And for to experiments the scientific reasoing implemented nonegocentrism, conservation, classification on children two groups.
The problems of this stady intended to clarify were as the follows.
(1) The impact of the free choice play learning group and the teacher indicated play learning group on development of the nonegocentrism.
(2) The impact of the free choice play learing group and the teacher indicated play learning group on development of the conservation.
(3) The impact of the free choice play learning group and the teacher indicated play learning group on development of the classification.
2. Method
The 101 subjects was randomly sampled two preschools in Seoul and Pusan. Children of 50 were two groups of 20 children 4 years old and 30 children 5 years old in the free choice play learning group. 51 children were two groups of 19 children 4 years old and 32 children 5 years old in the teacher indicated play learning group.
Tools used in this study were the nonegocentrism test of ser tasks devised by Feffer & Grourewitch(1960) and the conservation test of four tasks devised by Piaget and the classification tests of four tasks devised by Piaget (1941).
3. Findings
The major findings of the study were as follows.
(1) The impact of the free choice play learning group and the teacher indicated play learnig group in development of child's nonegocentrism (Hypothesis Ⅰ) was accepted in 5 years old and was rejected in 4 years old (table 1)
(2) The impact of the free choice play learning group and the teacher indicate play learning group in development of child's conservation. (Hypothesis Ⅱ) was rejected together 4 years old or 5 years old (table 2)
(3) The impact of the free choice play learning group and the teacher indicated play learning group in development of child's classification (Hypothsis Ⅲ) was positived together 4 years old or 5 years old (table 3).
