그리그의 서정소곡집(Lyric Pieces)에 나타난 민족주의적 요소 분석 및 연주법 제언

국문 초록 (Abstract)

에드바르드 그리그(Edvard Grieg)는 노르웨이를 대표하는 국민주의 작곡가로, 일생동안 노르웨이의 민속 음악을 연구하고 그의 음악에 활용하였다. 서정소곡집(Lyric Pieces)에는 노르웨이의 민속 음악에서 나타나는 선율, 화성, 리듬적 요소가 많이 활용되어 있으며, 이를 통해 노르웨이의 독특한 색채가 잘 나타나고 있다.
Op.47 No.4 할링(Norwegian Dance), Op.54 No.2 농민들의 행진(Peasants’ March), 그리고 Op.57 No.6 향수(Homesickness)는 주제 선율의 잦은 반복과 동형진행이 나타나고 장, 단조의 조성이 선법이나 5음음계와 결합되어 독특한 색채감을 나타낸다. 또한 그리그는 노르웨이의 전통 악기인 하르당거 피들(Hardanger Fiddle)의 음향을 모방하기 위해 개방 5도의 드론 베이스(Drone Bass), 아르페지오 음형, 페달 포인트(Pedal Point) 등을 사용하여 전통적인 노르웨이의 민속 음악을 연상하게 하였다. 특히 이들 곡에 사용된 노르웨이 민속 춤곡인 강가르(Gangar), 할링(Halling), 그리고 스프링가르(Springar)의 리듬은 자유롭고 즉흥적인 노르웨이의 춤곡의 느낌을 연상시킨다.
그리그는 서정소곡집에 기존의 전통적인 서양 음악의 작곡 기법에 노르웨이의 민속 요소를 다양한 방법으로 결합시켜 그만의 독창적인 음악을 만들어냈다. 본 연구가 그리그의 서정소곡집에 대한 관심을 고취시키고, 연주자들에게 유익한 정보를 제공하기를 바란다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Edvard Grieg is a representive composer from Norway who spent his entire life studying and exploring Norwegian folk music. Lyric Pieces includes melody, chord and rhythmic elements of Norway’s traditional folk music, and it shows Norway’s unique musical characteristics.
Op.47 No.4 “Norwegian Dance”, Op.54 No.2 “Peasants’ March”, and Op.57 No.6 “Homesickness” show unique musical characteristics; using frequent repeatitions and sequences of main melody, and employing the combination of major 𐄁 minor scale, church mode, and pentatonic scale. Grieg used open 5th drone bass, arpeggio, and pedal points to imitate the sound of Norwegian traditional instrument ‘Hardanger Fiddle’. Especially Grieg employs traditional folk rhythm like Gangar, Halling, and Springar, though the pieces, imitating free and improvisatory feelings of Norwegian dance.
Grieg created his own unique music, combining existing traditional Western music with traditional Norwegian folk music in various ways. I hope this study can help pianists to have a overall understanding and to have a proper interpretation of the works so that they can have successful performances.
