모랭과 세르의 철학에서 나타나는 통합적 사유

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 에드가 모랭과 미셀 세르의 철학을 출발시키는 근본 지반이 무엇인지에 대한 물음에서 출발한다. ‘복잡성’과 ‘헤르메스’로 대표되는 이들의 철학은 근본적으로 연결과 행로의 태도를 지향한다. 이러한 낯선 태도가 가능한 것은 질서와 무질서의 관계를 새롭게 정립되었기 때문이다. 이들에게 무질서는 질서의 규제 아래 정돈되어야 할 무분별한 현상이 아니라, 늘 질서를 위협하며 새로운 질서의 배태하게 하는 동반자라 할 수 있다. 따라서 이제 지식은 준-안정적인(quasi-stable) 상태를 보장받을 뿐이다.
질서와 무질서의 관계는 체계에 대한 재고로 우리를 이끈다. 모랭과 세르는 질서와 무질서의 상호 불가분의 관계는 하나의 체계 역시 항구적인 지위를 갖거나 안정된 상태에 놓여 있을 수 없음을 의미한다고 본다. 한 체계를 조직하는 질서는 무질서와의 관계를 배제할 수 없기에 체계는 변형과 재형성, 더 나아가 소멸의 가능성에도 노출되는 것이다. 이와 같은 새로운 체계를 모랭과 세르는 각각 ‘조직화’와 ‘열린 체계’라고 규정하였다.
이들은 체계에 대한 새로운 의미부여를 통해 인식과 지식의 장을 탐색하는 사유의 모험이 이전과 전혀 다른 방식으로 진행되어야 한다고 말한다. 추상적이고 항구적인 보편적 체계를 통해 세계 전체를 설명하는 지식의 틀을 확립할 수 있다는 믿음은 지나간 시대의 것이다. 모랭과 세르에게 지식의 장은 선형적으로 축적되지 않는 그렇기에 비선형적이며 늘 우연과 갈등, 소멸 속에서도 새롭게 생성되는 백과전서일 뿐이다. 따라서 완성된 인식이 아닌 늘 새롭게 출발하는 ‘연결’과 ‘행로’가 요구된다 할 수 있다.

This study starts from the question of what is the fundamental ground for starting the philosophy of Edgar Morin and Michelle Serres. Their philosophy, represented by 'complexity' and 'Hermes', is fundamentally oriented towards the connection and path. This strange attitude is possible because the relationship between order and disorder is newly established. To them, the disorder is not a reckless phenomenon to be regulated under the regulation of order, but it is a companion to the threat of order and the emergence of new order. So knowledge is now only guaranteed in a quasi-stable state.
The relationship between order and disorder leads us to a rethinking of the system. Morin and Serres argue that the interdependent relationship between order and disorder means that one system can not have a permanent status or be in a stable state. The system that organises a system can not exclude its relation to disorder, and the system is exposed to the possibility of transformation and reforming, and even extinction. These new systems are defined as 'organisation' and 'open system' respectively.
