There are considered many engineering properties of rock and rock mass as parameters to evaluate the degree of excavation difficulty. The method which have been used better is a method using seismic velocity. But the method has not been used and most engineers, have just used a evaluation method as using rock hammer to evaluate the degree of excavation difficulty, soil, riping rock and blasting rock. Therefore it is necessary for study that can be evaluated the degree of excavation difficulty for relational design and construction. It was mainly studied rock strengths as basic data in laboratory and field tests during this year. So, this study is to investigate variation of the rock strength due to degree of weathering and to evaluate degree of weathering by type of rocks, using data that has been constructed for several years. Therefore, it is possible to provide a relationship between several rock strength values by performing tests such as uniaxial compression test, point load test, schmidt hammer test, absorption ratio test and slaking durability test. The equations of relationships that can be used to estimate rock strength by using simple test methods in field and in laboratory are proposed. Henceforth, we should study to evaluate the degree of excavation difficulty and its' applicability due to types of excavation machines and evaluate ground parameters to conduct seismic investigation on studied sites. Finally, it should be a proposed standard to evaluate the degree of excavation difficulty after combine with test results of first year and result of second year.
